Terms of sale and licence

These terms apply when you buy or use Beep AI. The seller is , . Questions: support.

1. What you are buying

A perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use this major version of Beep AI for your own use, personal or business. You are buying a licence to use the software, not ownership of it.

2. How many machines

One licence key activates up to two machines. Activation binds the key to a hardware fingerprint. Reinstalling, replacing a drive or reinstalling Windows on the same machine does not consume a second activation. If you replace a computer and need a slot freed, contact support and we will free it.

3. Offline operation and licence checks

Beep AI verifies your licence offline using a cryptographic signature, so the app keeps working with no internet connection. It contacts our licence server roughly every two weeks, sending only your licence key and an anonymous machine identifier — never audio, never transcribed text, never anything you dictated. If that check fails, times out, or the server no longer exists, the app keeps working. Only an explicit, signed revocation stops it.

4. What you may not do

Breaching this section allows us to revoke the key. We revoke keys for abuse and for refunded purchases — not for anything else.

5. Open-source components

Beep AI includes third-party open-source components, each under its own licence. Those licences govern those components and nothing here overrides them. Full notices are on the licences page and in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt inside the installed app.

6. Payment, tax and refunds

Stripe is the merchant of record for this sale. Stripe processes the payment, calculates and remits applicable sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

7. Updates

Fixes and improvements to this major version are included. A future major version may be a separate purchase. We will not disable or degrade a version you have already bought in order to make you upgrade.

8. No warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Speech recognition is inherently imperfect: it will mis-transcribe, and it is your responsibility to read what it produces before relying on it. Do not use Beep AI as the sole record where an error would be dangerous or costly.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the software or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. If you bought as a consumer, you may have statutory rights — for example under EU or UK consumer law — that apply regardless of these terms and are not affected by them.

10. Termination

Your licence lasts until you breach section 4 or receive a refund. On termination you must stop using the software and uninstall it. Sections 8, 9 and 11 survive.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of , without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Consumer protections available to you in your country of residence still apply.

12. Changes

We may update these terms for future purchases. The terms in force when you bought are the ones that apply to your purchase.
